When writing - answer in complete sentences

Reading/Writing Workshop

We are offering our students many opportunities for understanding. Through teacher read-alouds, we are helping our students to develop their listening comprehension. Students are encouraged to visualize as the teacher reads. 
Students are also given opportunities to read and reflect independently. They often read in small groups or with a partner. In small groups, they engage in real conversations, and share personal, creative, and critical responses to their reading.
Students record their thoughts, ideas, feelings, and questions in their reading logs. Reading logs consist of both lined and blank sheets of paper for both written and visual representations of their connections.
Whole class discussions provide an opportunity to share their ideas and clarify information. Focus of discussion is often centered around linking their reading to their own lives.

A Journey Through Reading

Parker Middle School reading/language arts teachers, Susan Kalmakis, Kathleen Daly, and Jill Piantedosi, are reading Three Cups of Tea, with our grade 6 students.
In our Reading/Writing workshop, we are giving our students an opportunity to view how students live and learn in other cultures around the world. We want our students to learn that literature about real people can help them reflect on important issues and events. Good books can help children learn about things they may never come to experience.
